The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party declared a 3-day mourning session and suspended all party activities in honour of one of its members, Mr Jimoh Oyekanmi, who was the Caretaker Committee Chairman for Ede North local government.
The party has also ordered that the party flags in the state should be flown at half-mast for the same duration.
The party chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, made this announcement in a statement in Osogbo.
He further directed that a condolence register should be made available at the state secretariat as well as at the Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo branches of the party.
The Chairman expressed deep regret over the sudden death of Mr Oyekanmi, describing him as a willing and tenacious team player who never grew tired of executing tasks placed in his care.
While offering condolences to the members of the deceased’s immediate family, his friends, and the government of Osun on this sad incident, Hon. Bisi stressed that it was indeed a great loss for the party.
He acknowledged Oyekanmi’s significant contributions, stating, “Jimoh Oyekanmi, without mincing words, was an invaluable team player.
Losing him is a great loss to us all.”
He concluded by acknowledging the unpredictable nature of life and submitting to the unquestionable will of Almighty Allah, who gives and takes away.
