Appeal Court verdict: Protest rocks Kano over Gov Yusuf’s sack

Some residents took to the streets of Kano on Wednesday following the controversial certified True Copy of Appeal Court Judgement on Kano State Governorship election, which affirmed the victory of Abba Kabiru Yusuf as duly elected Governor of the State.

This is just as the security operatives wasted no time in dispersing the protesters and ensured that the peace prevailing in the state was not jeopardized.

It be recalled that the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) had organised a prayer for their members to assemble at Dan-Angundi popular open space to offer prayer to Allah to seek intervention and pave the way for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, to reclaim his mandate.

However, a source hinted that shortly after the prayer, some youths who felt aggrieved by the controversial judgement, resolved to protest.

The source then informed that the prompt arrival of security operatives quenched the tension-soaked protest, which could have turned to compounded already tension in the State.

However, while speaking with the state Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) SP Haruna Kiyawa, said; “he was not in town, promised to get in touch as soon he got the authentic information on it”.

At press time, the situation in the town was calm as residents were seen going about their normal activities.
