Anglican mothers under the Awka Diocesan Mothers’ Union have expressed their intention to partner with the non-governmental crusade of Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, to train youths and women in different vocational skills.
The women conveyed this during their visit to the governor’s wife at the Governor’s Lodge in Anambra to celebrate Mother’s Day over the weekend.

Reading her presentation, the leader of the team and wife of the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Dr. Mrs. Martha Ibezim, stated that the collaboration to train women and youths in various skills would create jobs, reduce crime, and empower women to become self-reliant.
She also highlighted other areas that women of the diocese have ventured into, including scholarships for less privileged children, humanitarian visits, and other social support programs. She emphasized that support from the government is necessary to expand the reach of their initiatives.
Addressing the women, the governor’s wife, Mrs. Soludo, commended the Anglican mothers for championing positive change in their diocese and for directing resources toward the right objectives. She reminded them about the crucial role of mothers in building the best home and society, urging them to continue teaching fellow women about child-rearing and being the best mother to their children and others.
Mrs. Soludo pledged to support the women in their project and reiterated her commitment to taking children off the streets and into classrooms.
The Mothers’ Union, under the Anglican Communion, is a group of married women within the Anglican denomination.
