Prioritise, invest heavily in data security, expert urges FG

IT Specialist Mr Alexander Agunbiade has unveiled crucial insights into fortifying sensitive healthcare data against cyber threats.

In a landmark study titled “Big Data Security on Hadoop: An Open-Source Framework for Healthcare Data Management Using One-Time Pad Encryption, the expert says it is a crucial advancement in data security.

This research, according to him, underscored the pivotal role of advanced encryption techniques in safeguarding patient information in today’s digital landscape.

Mr. Agunbiade, a leading authority in data security, spearheaded the development of an innovative algorithm model for one-time pad encryption, rooted in the mathematical theory of encryption.

Harnessing cutting-edge technologies including Universal Modelling Language (UML) and the Python programming language, alongside the robust infrastructure of Hadoop’s Distributed File System and Yet Another Resource Negotiator (YARN), the model sets a new standard for data protection in healthcare.

“Protecting sensitive healthcare data is paramount in our increasingly interconnected world,” says Mr. Agunbiade.

“Through rigorous research and implementation, we’ve demonstrated the effectiveness of one-time pad encryption in mitigating cyber risks and preserving data integrity.”

Performance evaluations, including encryption and decryption times, served as critical benchmarks for the study.

The findings reveal a direct correlation between file size and encryption and decryption times, affirming the scalability and efficiency of the encryption solution.

Notably, One Time Pad (OTP) encryption emerged as the preferred method, surpassing AES encryption in computational processing time for healthcare big data.

“As organisations harness the power of big data analytics, prioritising data security is non-negotiable,” emphasises Mr Agunbiade.

“Our research underscores the urgency of adopting advanced encryption techniques to safeguard against evolving cyber threats and maintain stakeholder trust.”

Agunbiade’s proactive advocacy efforts, including seminars and workshops, have garnered widespread recognition for promoting best practices in data privacy and security.
