Manchester United icon Roy Keane has delivered a stark warning to England’s head coach Gareth Southgate regarding the deployment of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield during the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

He remarked, “Deploying him in midfield against top-tier teams could prove to be a costly error.
“In certain group matches, you might get away with it, but against elite nations, particularly in terms of defensive duties, Alexander-Arnold’s vulnerabilities could be exposed.
“I believe that against formidable opponents like France or Germany, in crucial knockout matches, entrusting Alexander-Arnold with midfield responsibilities could pose significant defensive challenges.”
