Juventus submit opening £40,000,000 transfer bid for Manchester United star

Manchester United have received a £40 million bid from Juventus for Mason Greenwood, according to reports.

Greenwood, an England international, has not featured for United since January 2022, following legal issues that were later resolved. He spent the last season on loan at Getafe in Spain, where he showed promising form.

While Greenwood was expected to return for United’s pre-season, a move to Juventus appears increasingly likely. Personal terms have been agreed upon, and the player has reportedly given his approval to join the Italian club. United are likely to view the fee positively, considering their modest summer transfer budget.

Napoli, managed by Antonion Conte, have also shown interest, but Juventus are currently leading the race.

Following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s partial takeover of United, he hinted that Greenwood could still have a future at Old Trafford, emphasizing the club’s careful consideration of values and suitability.

“We will make a decision,” Ratcliffe stated. “He’s a Manchester United player, so we are responsible for football decisions. We have to make a fair decision based on his character and his ability to represent Manchester United well.”

Ratcliffe emphasized the club’s need to assess facts, judge fairly, and uphold the club’s values in making decisions about Greenwood’s future. He refrained from commenting further on the player’s situation.
