House of Representatives has passed the N70,000 minimum wage bill through Second Reading, moving it closer to becoming law.
The bill, transmitted by President Bola Tinubu, aims to increase the national minimum wage from its current level.
After passing the Second Reading, the House is set to dissolve into the Committee of the Whole to consider the bill and other related matters.
If passed, the bill will proceed to Third Reading, where it is expected to be finalised and sent to the Senate for concurrence.
The move comes after President Tinubu and labour leaders agreed on the N70,000 minimum wage following a meeting.
The development is seen as a significant step towards improving the welfare of Nigerian workers.
