The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, said on Thursday that the current administration under President Bola Tinubu will remove all forms of bottlenecks militating against the effective administration of justice in the country.
Fagbemi made this statement in Abuja while speaking at a valedictory court session in honor of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who retired as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) on Thursday after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70 years.
According to Fagbemi, the current administration will not only promote the independence of the judiciary but will also ensure that the judiciary remains the last hope of the common man.
The Justice Minister added that the current hardships faced by Nigerians will soon be a thing of the past, noting that the federal government appreciates the resilience of all Nigerians and is aware of the challenges in the country.

He also stated that any action aimed at undermining the democratic government will be considered treason by the federal government, and perpetrators of such acts will be dealt with according to the law.
Fagbemi highlighted various reforms the government has implemented to enhance the judiciary’s ability to deliver effective justice.
He called on Attorneys General across the country to advise their respective state governors to adhere to the Supreme Court’s judgment on financial autonomy for Local Government Areas in Nigeria.
While eulogizing the retired Justice Ariwoola, the AGF noted that the Bar and the Bench enjoyed a very cordial relationship during the two years Ariwoola served as Chief Justice of Nigeria.
