Transfer Deadline Day: Erik ten Hag Prevents Manchester United from Selling Two Key Players

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag blocked two players from leaving the club on transfer deadline day.

While the Red Devils signed Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain for £50.5 million and allowed academy graduate Scott McTominay to join Napoli for £25 million, Ten Hag prevented further departures.

According to the Daily Mail, La Liga side Real Betis were in England with loan offers for Antony and Christian Eriksen. However, they were quickly informed that neither player would be permitted to leave.

Brazilian winger Antony, who joined United two seasons ago, has struggled at Old Trafford. The 24-year-old did not feature in Manchester United’s Premier League opener against Fulham and was a late substitute in the recent defeat to Brighton. Antony was criticized for his involvement in Brighton’s injury-time winner, despite being on the pitch for only a few minutes.
