The Osun State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Sunday Bisi, stated on Wednesday that the party has had enough of the embarrassments and outbursts directed at the PDP by the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
He affirmed that the national leadership of the party would soon make Wike face the consequences of his actions.
The state party chairman made this known during the “Frontliners” Personality Interview program of the Osun State League of Veteran Journalists, held at the Nigeria Union Of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Osogbo.
He assured that the party at the national level might soon take strong action against Wike’s excesses.

According to him, “It is unbecoming of someone of Wike’s calibre to be treading shabbily on the integrity of the party. His actions are constituting an embarrassment to the PDP.
“The party at the national level is mindful of his excesses and would curb him in no distant future.”
Hon. Bisi argued that it was Wike’s kind of indiscipline and untoward attitude that the PDP in Osun State was trying to prevent with its prompt action against certain suspended members who had become obstacles to the party’s progress.
On the defection of a former member of the Party’s Board of Trustees, Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun, to the APC, the chairman explained that “he left in protest because his plea that the PDP should grant Prince Dotun Babayemi back into the party was not entertained.”
He further stated that when he informed Alhaji Oyedokun that retaining some of the defectors would be detrimental to the party, “Alhaji Oyedokun felt bad about our stance on Prince Babayemi, but I told him that we have to uphold discipline, and Baba, therefore, left with him.”
Debunking the allegations that the state PDP hierarchy was taking instructions from Governor Ademola Adeleke’s dynasty on decisions that are the party’s prerogatives, the chairman said the claim was untrue.
According to him, “Internal democracy is prevailing in all party affairs and appointments within both the state executives and the legislature.”
“When we were aspiring, it was the Adeleke dynasty that saved the situation. In fact, none is more magnanimous than the dynasty,” he remarked, adding that the dynasty has always championed the party’s interests and has never forced its list of candidates or appointees on the party.”
The state chairman expressed optimism about the PDP’s electoral prospects in the forthcoming local government election in the state.
He described those hoping it would be conducted by INEC as “political comedians,” pointing out that unless the constitution is amended, it is the state electoral commission that would oversee the election’s conduct.
