The Super Eagles have responded to their goalless draw with Rwanda in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Tuesday.
Nigeria and Rwanda ended their Matchday 2 encounter in Kigali with a 0-0 scoreline. The Amavubi were the more dominant side in the early minutes, but the Super Eagles gained control, with Ademola Lookman posing a significant threat to the Rwandan defense.
In the 20th minute, Lookman received a pass from midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, but his shot was saved by Rwandan goalkeeper Ntwari Fiacre. Lookman later scored, but the goal was controversially disallowed by the referee. Victor Boniface also hit the post nine minutes before halftime after being set up by Lookman.
Despite changes made by caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen in the second half, the match ended without any goals. The result keeps Nigeria at the top of Group D with four points from two matches.
In a post-match update on X, the Super Eagles expressed gratitude to their fans and looked ahead to their next fixtures in October:
