Guber poll tribunal: Kano NNPP members hold special prayers to seek God’s intervention

As various political parties in Kano eagerly waited for judgement on the gubernatorial tribunal to be announced, hundreds of members of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), under the umbrella of the Kwankwasiyya movement, gathered in Kano on Thursday to hold special prayers for the success of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

It would be recalled that the opposition, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is challenging the victory recorded by Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the March 18 governorship election in Kano State.

In anticipation of the impending announcement by the tribunal to deliver judgment in the governorship election dispute, Kwankwasiyya members resort to seeking divine intervention.

In their quest to seek Allah and pave the way to victory, both male and female followers of the NNPP presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, organised prayers that were conducted at Zaria, Maiduguri, Hadejia, and Gwarzo roads, which are the main entrances into the ancient city.

While speaking at one of the prayer grounds, the State Chairperson of the NNPP Women Group, Hajia Zuwaira Abubakar, disclosed that they are praying against those who are hell-bent on removing Yusuf as governor of Kano State.

According to her, ” We are aware of the alleged notorious and criminal underground moves to snatch our hard-earned victory of the NNPP government in Kano State and to which we are asking Allah to take care of those behind such moves”.

Hajia Abubakar, however, stated that they would not allow some disgruntled elements to take away Yusuf’s victory in the gubernatorial poll.

She described the governor’s victory in the election as a ‘popular mandate’.

Also bearing his mind at another payment ground held on Thursday, Alhaji Ibrahim Garko, a chieftain of NNPP, said, “We believed that prayer is very vital to whatever man is seeking from Allah.”

He then added that since we are aware of the game plan of some disgruntled elements in society who are not happy with the present government, hence a need for us to organise this prayer.

We believed, therefore, that with this prayer organised across the state today, the wish of enemies of progress would not prevail over this government.
