Senior Pastor, Worksword of God Church, Ibadan, Pastor Adegboye Olabisi, has tasked President Bola Tinubu to embrace the imperativeness of unity and exert all efforts to unite all Nigerians.
This, the cleric noted, should include summoning all ethnic nationalities and secession agitators to a roundtable discussion as well as setting up a peace, security, and reconciliation committee with a mandate to unite all Nigerians.
Adegboye, who is also Convener of Save Nigeria Network, noted that one of the steps to calm secessionist agitations and engender a united country is that Tinubu sees to the release of all detained agitators for self-rule.
In a release, Adegboye added that Tinubu must, in his actions as president, lead the way in the promotion of love and social security among all Nigerians.
Adegboye said: “All ethnic nationalities and secessionists must be brought into a roundtable discussion in order to move the country forward. The president, as a matter of urgency, must unite all Nigerians together by all means.
There is a need for a peace, security, and reconciliation committee to reunite all Nigerians. All the detained and imprisoned agitators for self-rule should be released.”
The cleric also expressed worry about the proliferation of arms and ammunition in the country, asking that the president direct all security agencies to set in motion strategies to mop up all illegal arms and ammunition in circulation.
Among others, he advocated for the enactment of a new federal law in the country that forbids and penalises unlawful possession and handling of arms and ammunition.
He warned that the nation would continue to grapple with variegated security challenges as long as illegal arms and ammunition continued to find their way into and around the country.
“A new federal law should be enacted that forbids the unlawful handling of arms and ammunition in the country. Nigeria’s police and other security agencies should be empowered to withdraw all illegal arms and ammunition from the country.
Nigeria is not safe until the government retrieves all this ammunition from the masses,” Adegboye said.
Speaking on controversies around the distribution of palliatives to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal, Adegboye admonished the president to “invest in Medicare, education, and the rural-urban road network instead of sharing money or food as palliatives, which is the beginning of another corruption in the country.”
Though he lauded the appointments made so far by Tinubu, especially the engagement of technocrats, the cleric urged the president not to downplay the importance of seeking counsel from men of God.
He added: “As the president is involving technocrats, there is a need for counsel from ordained ministers of God to give direction and wisdom to take Nigeria to her promised land. The President must involve God in his administration.
“Since the victory of Mr President is from God, God must be given a place in his administration.
There are anointed and approved servants of God that the president must not take for granted; it doesn’t matter how naive they may look.
“God personally spoke to me before the election that Senator Bola Tinubu would emerge the winner of the elections, as contained in a book I published for the president.”
