Tinubu approves restructuring of Social Safety Net Programmes — Minister

President Bola Tinubu has approved the restructuring of the Social Safety Net Programmes as part of efforts aimed at tackling the scourge of poverty across the country.

The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu confirmed this via a statement issued by her Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Rasheed Zubair.

According to her, no fewer than 13 officials were appointed to manage various positions in the newly created Agencies to effectively address the expanded mandate of the Ministry.

Some of the newly created/renamed Agencies include: Youth Empowerment Empowerment and Social Support Operations (YESSO); Renewed Hope Shelter Programme for Refugees, Poor and Internally Displaced Persons; and Grant for Vulnerable Groups.

Others are: Renewed Hope Home Grown School Feeding and End Hunger  Programme; Renewed Hope MSME Loan Programme; Renewed  Hope Skills Acquisition Programme; Renewed Hope IDP Refugees out of School Programme (National Alternate School Programme and Community and Social Development Programme.

“The appointed persons will join her team in implementing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at providing succour to those affected by humanitarian crises and eradicating multi-dimensional poverty In Nigeria.

They are: National Coordinator National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO) – Hon. Abdulaziz Danladi; National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO) Head of Office – Dr. Micheal Ajuluchukwu; NCTO Deputy Head of Office – Dr. Janet Ekpenyong; National Programme Manager, Youth Empowerment Empowerment and Social Support Operations (YESSO) – Richard Romanus and National Communication Manager NSIP – Hon. Jamalu Kaburu.

Others include: National Programme Manager, Renewed Hope Shelter Programme for Refugees, Poor and Internally Displaced Persons- Hon. Chidinma Makuachukwu; National Programme Manager, Grant for Vulnerable Groups – Hon. Thalis Apalowo; Programme Manager at Risk Children Programme – Hajia Salia Sanusi Yusuff; and National Programme Manager, National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (Renewed Hope Home Grown School Feeding and End Hunger  Programme)- Hon. Mrs. Obande.

She also announced the appointment of: Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (Renewed Hope MSME Loan Programme)- Hon. Dr. Joseph Nkang; Programme Manager, N-Power Programme (Renewed Hope Skills Acquisition Programme – Dr. Akindele Adekunle Egbuwalo; Renewed Hope IDP Refugees out of School Programme (National Alternate School Programme) – Dr. Mrs. Etcheri Ansa; and National Project Manager, Community and Social Development Programme – Hon. Olubunmi Bello.

According to the statement, the Minster of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, remains the Chairman of NASSCO Management Team, while the Secretary NASSCO Management Team is Hon. Abel Enitan, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

The Minister therefore charged the new appointees to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new offices as there will be no room for excuses or failure, in the actualisation of Renewed Hope mandate and in moving Nigeria forward.
