Lagos vows buildings without permits will be demolished

The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), has insisted that all structures or buildings that do not have the necessary building permits will be demolished.

The vow was made by the General Manager of LASBCA, Gbolahan Oki, at a chat with journalists during a press briefing on Friday, October 6, 2023.

Speaking on the demolition of some of the properties located at Ogombo, the LABSCA boss said most of the structures were shanties.

He said, “80-90 per cent are shanties and between 5 – 10 structures at Ogombo are without building plan approval.’’

While decrying the issue of land grabbers disturbing government officials in doing their job at Ogombo, Eti-Osa area of the state, he noted that irrespective of the notices, the land grabbers had continued to build on the land owned by the state government and meant for housing.
