New Covenant Church announced at the weekend that it is set to conduct free eye surgery for residents of Osun State during this year’s Liberty outreach.
The conference pastor of the Osogbo conference, Olufunso Ajibode, disclosed this during a press briefing in Osogbo, the state capital.
According to Ajibode, the outreach will be held from October 25 to October 29 at the Osogbo City Stadium.
He said there will also be a free legal clinic, business empowerment, and the distribution of welfare materials to the less privileged during the outreach.
The pastor added that the church youths will conduct outreaches to selected schools in the state to interact with students on the importance of avoiding social vices.
He said, “The goal of liberty, as implied by the name, is to set people free—whole families, communities, villages, towns, and cities—from bondage to sin, sickness, diseases, poverty, and lack, among other things.
“Since 1999, we have travelled from village to village, town to town, and city to city. We have established two free schools in Oyo State, sunk 16 wells, and built several churches.
We have also provided agricultural and business empowerment and conducted medical surgeries (eye and general) for many in need.
“We will conduct free eye surgeries, specifically for cataracts. Eyeglasses will be distributed for free to those who may require them, along with free general surgeries.
“We will also host a free legal clinic, provide business empowerment opportunities, and distribute welfare materials like clothes and shoes to those in need.
“Our youth will conduct outreaches in selected schools, both primary and secondary, over these five days to encourage students to avoid teenage pregnancy, shun cultism and other forms of violence, and inspire them to pursue academic excellence.”
