NANS lauds Senator Ubah’s defection to APC

National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) has described the defection of the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah from the Young Progressive Party (YPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a welcome and timely development.

The student body in a statement signed by its former President (Senate), Comrade Innocent Chuks Okafor and made available to Journalists in Awka on Sunday, noted that President Bola  Tinubu’s “exemplary leadership and political magnanimity” was the driving force behind Senator Ubah’s decision to join the APC.

According to him, the move was another big sign of national unity and a significant moment in Nigeria’s political history.

While commending the efforts of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and the APC National Chairman,  Allahaji Abdullahi Ganduje, for their giant strides in ensuring Ubah’s defection to the APC, Comrade Chuks is optimistic that the development will attract more Federal Government presence to the South East region.

He noted that the idea of the Nnewi-born politician and business tycoon joining the ruling party also anchored on the Senator’s continued effort in changing the negative political narrative of the Igbo nation.

The former student leader who described Senator Ubah as a progressive politician, strong advocate of  human capital development and silent achiever, applauded him for his bold step, adding that the robust blue print of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah-led Anambra South Senatorial District at the National Assembly is in tandem with the APC-led federal government.

He said, “the defection of Senator Ubah from the YPP to the APC is a laudable development..

“The Senator has taken a bold and courageous step to exhibit his genuine leadership and to strengthen his good deeds in Anambra South Senatorial District, the State, the South East region and the country at large.

“It is a good opportunity for the Ndigbo to connect with the centre.

“We congratulate him for joining APC having being in PDP, labour Party, APGA, won election in YPP and now defected to APC for the betterment of Ndi Igbo precisely being a focused and goagoal-getterWe wish him a successful stay in his new political party,” Okafor stated.
