Gombe Gov congratulates Yakubu Philemon on SAN nomination

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has congratulated a distinguished son of the state, Yakubu Philemon, Esq., on his well-deserved nomination for the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

The Governor said that the recognition of Barr. Yakubu by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) is proof of his outstanding legal acumen and commitment to justice that he has consistently displayed throughout his career.

According to him, “Barr Yakubu Philemon has made our dear state proud with this remarkable accomplishment.

His journey to becoming a legal luminary, from being called to the Nigerian Bar in 2005 to this pinnacle of recognition, is an inspiration to the youths of Gombe. It is a reflection of the unyielding spirit of diligence and dedication.”

He also said that, “I am aware that his journey has been one of service and commitment, as exemplified by his various roles, including serving as the General Secretary of the Law Students’ Association at A.B.U., Zaria, National Legal Adviser of Dadiya Community Development Association (DACODA), the umbrella body of Gombe State indigenes who are from Dadiya Chiefdom, and his active involvement in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), where he currently serves as a National Executive Council member.”

The governor added that “his commitment to justice, human rights, and community development is commendable and aligns with the values that Gombe State holds dear.”

Inuwa Yahaya acknowledged that Yakubu Philemon’s elevation to SAN will make him the third distinguished legal practitioner from Gombe State to attain this rank.

He said that “it is a source of immense pride for our state and a reflection of the excellence that Gombe consistently produces.”

He encouraged the legal luminary to continue to uphold the highest ethical and professional standards, living above board and exemplifying the qualities that have earned him this esteemed recognition and elevation.

While urging the SAN-designate to continue to be a shining example to the legal profession and an inspiration to aspiring lawyers in Gombe State and beyond, the Governor assured him of the goodwill, support, and solidarity of the people of Gombe State as he embarks on this new chapter in his legal career.

Barr. Yakubu Philemon, who hails from the Dadiya tribe in Balanga Local Government of Gombe State, was recently elevated to the rank of SAN alongside 57 others by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, GCON, at its 159th Plenary session.

The inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of the new inner bar members will take place on Monday, November 27, 2023, at the Supreme Court Complex, Abuja, as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs, Government House Gombe.
