Zamfara: NSCDC partners NAPTIP to combat trafficking, child labour

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Zamfara State Command, has assured its collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in the fight against trafficking in persons, sexual exploitation, child labour, and child abuse in the state.

The Zamfara State Commandant, NSCDC, Sani Mustafa, gave this assurance when he hosted the State Commander of NAPTIP, Mr. Aliyu Sarkin Sudan, today at the Command Headquarters in Gusau.

Commandant Sani Mustapha affirmed that all the necessary support for NAPTIP’s activities in the Corps is already in place.

He reiterated that NSCDC, under the able leadership of the Commandant General, Dr. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, mni OFR, has graciously established the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, which is working closely with NAPTIP in the fight against trafficking in persons and other gender violence-related offences.

Commandant Sani Mustapha, however, assured the agency of the holistic support of the Corps in the prosecution of their mandates in the state.

Earlier, Mr. Aliyu A. Sarki Sudan, the State Commander of NAPTIP, praised the determination of the Corps in the fight against gender-based violence and other related offences, especially in Zamfara State.

The Zamfara State Commander of NAPTIP then outlined the constitutional mandates of the agency, which include fighting against the trafficking of persons, sexual exploitation, child labour, child abuse, and other offences related to gender-based violence.

He explained that the purpose of the visit was to inform the Corps about NAPTIP’s mandate and to request support and collaboration with the Corps in the state.”
