The Presiding Archbishop of Dominion Chapel International Church and the National Deputy President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Archbishop JohnPraise Daniel, has expressed his disapproval of the recent call for the resignation of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Addressing journalists on Friday in Abuja, Archbishop Daniel commended the Minister for the transformative work he has initiated since taking office. He emphasized that no tribe or religion can claim ownership of Abuja, as the city belongs to all Nigerians, regardless of their tribe or religion.
“On this occasion, I also welcome the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Mr. Wike, to Abuja. His transformative efforts in the capital are a testament to his dedication, and I am confident that he will continue to work diligently in the service of our nation.
“Abuja belongs to all Nigerians, irrespective of their tribe or religion, as it is God who determines our leaders, as stated in Romans 13:1-3: ‘The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong.’ Calling for the resignation of a Minister who has not committed any wrongdoing is akin to inviting God’s judgment upon ourselves.
“This is unacceptable, and it must stop! I urge the Honourable Minister to remain unwavering in fulfilling the President’s mandate for the FCT.”
The clergyman, who is also the Chairman of the Northern Coalition of Bishops and Apostles (NOCOBA), congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his victory in the last Presidential election, which was affirmed by the Supreme Court. He noted that the judgment is not just a political triumph but a testament to the strength, transparency, and integrity of the nation’s judiciary system.
“Our highest court has once again proven itself as a beacon of justice, ensuring that the will of the people remains paramount. This is a call for unity, transcending party lines and political allegiances. It reflects our collective will as a people. Now, more than ever, we should come together, regardless of our political leanings, and support President Tinubu’s administration.”
Archbishop Daniel also commended the petitioners, Mallam Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party, for their commitment to due process and the judicial resolution of the election dispute. He urged them to view the Supreme Court’s verdict as the divine will of God.
Regarding the state of the economy, he expressed concern about the soaring prices of essential food items, which make daily sustenance a struggle for many. He recommended promoting and encouraging the patronage of homegrown products to strengthen the country’s industries and expand the economy.
“It is imperative that we address these challenges collectively to continue supporting the President’s Renewed Hope agenda for our country. I join millions of Nigerians in urging the President to intensify efforts to alleviate the suffering of the masses.”
Regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, he said, “The devastation and loss of innocent lives are tragic, and I urge immediate efforts towards a ceasefire, dialogue, and understanding.”
