A Joint Police Taskforce under the Benue State Police command known as Operation Zenda has supported one of its own who sustained injuries, Mr John Oriyan, an Inspector of Police, with the sum of N500,000.
Inspector Oriya has been bedridden for the last five months at the NKST Rehabilitation Hospital at Mkar in the Gboko Local Government Area of Benue after being crushed by an unsuspecting vehicle while on duty in Adikpo, Kwande LGA of the state.
The injuries led to the amputation of one of his legs.
The Commander of the Taskforce, Justine Gberindyer, CSP, while presenting the gift to the inspector, said that the donation was a contribution from his colleagues to help him offset some of his medical bills and psychologically boost his morale.
The management of the hospital said that the inspector would need over N2 million to manage and enable him to recover fully.
CSP Gberindyr further said that Inspector Orinyan is a dedicated officer whose service will be missed, and he prayed for his quick recovery in spite of the little contribution his friends from the police have put together for him.
Responding, Inspector John and his wife, Faith Orinyan, were full of praise and appreciation for CSP Gberindyr and his team for their love and support.
According to the wife, “This is the fifth month we have been in the hospital since my husband had an accident. His boss has always been coming to assist us, and he has never allowed us to lack. I pray that God protects and guides them all.”
CSP Gberindyr, the commander of Operation Zenda, is a crime burst who has rescued several victims from kidnapped cases, dislodged bandits, armed robbers, and other related crimes in Benue.
