The Oyo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Michael Adaralewa, has directed a crackdown on vandals of electrical transformers and other power distribution facilities.
The commandant’s order was made known by the state Public Relations Officer, DSC Samuel Opebiyi.
In a monthly briefing by the Commandant held on Tuesday at the Area “A” Command Headquarters, Iyaganku, Ibadan, he gave a marching order to all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to go after vandals of transformers and other power distribution facilities in the state.
The monthly commandant’s briefing is for reviewing NSCDC operations, assessing security challenges and providing directives to enhance internal security across the pacesetter state.
In his address at the meeting, Dr. Adaralewa expressed concern over the rising cases of vandalism targeting power transformers and other electricity distribution facilities in several parts of Oyo State.
Commending NSCDC officers for their diligence, the Commandant encouraged them to continue being above board in the discharge of their duties.
He also ordered increased security presence at worship centres on Fridays, Sundays and through the yuletide season to curb the anticipated rise in criminal activities.
Other key highlights of the meeting were the review of reports from the various Departments, Units and Divisions under the Command.
Also discussed and agreed upon were strategies and directives aimed at improving the Corps’ effectiveness and service delivery to the people of the state.
Commandant Adaralewa charged all officers and men of the Corps to brace up for the enormous task ahead as the year gradually comes to an end.
He assured the people and residents of the unwavering commitment of the NSCDC to protecting lives and property during the festive season and beyond.
The briefing was attended by all the Command’s senior officers including Heads of Departments, Heads of Units, Area Commanders, Sectional Heads, Unit Commanders and Divisional Officers.
