Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the Supreme Court, saying that his victory at the Apex Court was an affirmation of the popular mandate given to him by Nigerians at the February 25 Presidential Election.
Iba Adams said this in a signed congratulatory letter titled: “Congratulations on your Supreme Court victory,” written to Mr. President, copy of which was made available to newsmen in Lagos on Sunday, noting that the victory was also a reflection of the president’s avowed commitment to justice, fair-play and merits of the law, without fear or favour.
The Yoruba generalissimo, while further noting that there is always a winner and a loser in every election, with the country being an indivisible entity “binded by fate to be the leading nation in Africa,” quickly observed that Nigeria was currently going through a lot which he said his leadership at this time demanded.
“Your Excellency, I, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, write to congratulate you on your victory at the Supreme Court.
“Your victory at the Apex Court was an affirmation of the popular mandate given to you by Nigerians at the February 25 Presidential Election.
“It is a reflection of your avowed commitment to justice, fair-play and merits of the law, without fear or favour.
“In every election, there is always a winner and a loser.
“But the underlining fact remains that we are all one, indivisible Nigeria that is binded by fate to be the leading nation in Africa.
“Nigeria is going through a lot at the moment, but it must be said that your victory has given rise to a leadership that this time demands,” Adams said.
Adams, while joining other prominent Nigerians to celebrating President Tinubu’s victory, said he was of the view that now was the time for all citizens to build Nigeria of their dream and the need for all as a must to “agree with the fact that this is truly a new chapter in the political trajectory of Nigeria.”
This was just as he affirmed that Nigerians, irrespective of their ethnic nationalities have common belief in the strength of the country’s diversity, charging President Tinubu to ensure that the fulcrum of his administration should be his “commitment to continue to serve all Nigerians of all political persuasions, tribes and faiths with honour and respect for the diverse opinions and uniting values of our citizens.”
Speaking further, the Yoruba generalissimo expressed strong belief in restructuring as the best solution to the foundational problem of Nigeria, even as he pledged continued support for President Tinubu’s administration “as a Yoruba man, a brother and father of the nation, especially, a Nigerian nation that is tied to this political ideology.”
According to Iba Adams, it is the dream of the country’s founding fathers to see Nigeria becoming a prosperous nation ready to fulfill her dreams and the collective aspirations of the citizens, positing that such belief should, therefore, be the guiding light that would help in directing the energy of the citizens towards building a virile, stronger, united, and more prosperous country.
Adams, therefore, tasked President Tinubu to kickstart the reform and the Renewed Agenda of his administration, expressing the hope that Nigeria would grow from strength to strength for it to fulfill the dream of her founding fathers, just as he prayed God and the Yoruba ancestors to guide his “path as you fulfill the destiny of our dear nation.”
