Sokoto lawmaker donates 200 motorcycles, N100m, others to security agents, constituents

As part of his efforts to tackle insecurity and fulfill his campaign promises, a lawmaker representing Yabo-Shagari federal constituency in Sokoto State, Umar Yusuf Yabo, has donated 200 motorcycles to security agencies and other constituents.

The lawmaker, who was elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections also splashed 100 million naira to empower 2000 women in the two local government areas.

The lawmaker further distributed 50 water pump machines as well as 50 2.5KVA power generators to farmers and mosques in the two areas. He also distributed 500 uniforms and 5000 exercise books to primary school pupils.

Speaking while handing over the items to the beneficiaries at Yabo town on Monday, Yusuf said the gesture was part of his campaign promises to his constituents.

“During my campaigns, I promised our people a positive change because Yabo-Shagari had been under-represented at the green chamber for so many years.

“So what we are witnessing today is just the beginning of so many good things that are on the way,” he said

According to him, each of the 2000 women would receive N50,000, adding that, another set of 50  women would get a deep freezer each.

“I also made a case for our electricity supply at the plenary, this is because Yabo-Shagari has not been getting light for about two years now.

“I promise you that our light will be restored very soon,” he assured.

The state chairman of PDP, Bello Goronyo however, commended the lawmaker for achieving this feat within five months of his representation.
