FG committed to endearing educational legacies for Nigerians — UNIBEN Chancellor

The Chancellor of the University of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Prof. James Ayatse, said on Friday in Benin that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to the establishment of worthy and endearing legacies for Nigerians, particularly in the education sector.

Ayatse stated this while addressing the graduates, parents, and other guests at the institution’s 48th Convocation and 53rd Founders’ Day ceremonies.

He stated that the school, despite confronting some challenges, has continued to make giant strides in providing quality education for the people.

“It has demonstrated commitment to the provision of modern facilities for the training of first-class products that are responsive to the needs of their society.”

The Tiv Tor and Chairman Benue State Council of Traditional, while commending the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Lilian, and his team for their numerous accomplishments in the past four years, maintained that the Vice Chancellor’s purposeful leadership has continued to project the school positively.

Prof. Ayatse, however, congratulated the graduates for their successes in the final exams and urged them to be proud of the institution, which, according to him, places a high premium on excellence in accordance with the best global practices.

In her welcome address, Prof. Salami congratulated the graduates and advised them to be good ambassadors of the school.

She disclosed that a total of 178 students of the University bagged First Degrees as the Institution graduated 14, 254 students

The Vice-Chancellor gave the breakdown of the classes of degrees as First Class (178), Second Class Upper (4,353), Second Class Lower (8,607), Third Class (400), Pass (14), Diploma (5), Unclassified (576), Distinction (1), Credit (81), and Pass (39).

Reeling out some of her administration’s achievements, the university maintained that her administration would continue to pursue academic excellence and growth.

“This administration has, in the last four years, been consistent in its pursuit of academic excellence and maximum growth in all spheres as a way of rewriting the narrative of the university for the better.

“This drive has placed us on a high pedestal in the community of higher institutions and attracted a lot of respect to the institution and its graduates.

That is why today we are proud to turn out men and women adjudged worthy to earn the University’s degrees and diplomas at the first-degree level”,

Continuing: “As a way of deepening our commitment to high-quality education, we have gone to great lengths to upgrade the information and communications technology (ICT) facilities.
