We’re determined to change ‘wrong notions’ about LASAA — New MD

The newly-appointed Managing Director of the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA), Prince Fatiu Akiolu, has said one of his administration’s key focus areas is to eradicate misgivings of the public and stakeholders about the agency and reposition it for effective service delivery.

Speaking to the media at the agency’s unveiling of the 2024 Mobile Advert Permit, along with a new website and a refreshed corporate logo, over the weekend in Lagos, the new LASAA helmsman stated that it has become imperative for his administration to address a lot of misgivings about the agency as part of its rebuilding process.

According to him, one of the reasons behind the unveiling of the new logo was to depict the agency’s forward-looking approach and its commitment to making doing business with its customers seamless.

“It is a way of telling the people that this is a new LASAA, quite different from what it used to be. We have made things very easy. From the comfort of your home, you can pay for your signage. So you don’t have any reason not to register your signage,” he stated.

Prince Akiolu added that the strategic move underscores LASAA’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technology, enhancing user experience, and maintaining relevance in the outdoor advertising regulation space.

The Mobile Advert Permit, a QR code secured by encryption, he assured, would revolutionise the registration process for branded vehicles in the state since the unique code contains brand type, number plate, and permit year to ensure authenticity and compliance.

The LASAA boss also disclosed the agency’s decision to decentralise its registration process as a way of further facilitating the ease of doing business with it.

He stated that with the launch of the 2024 Mobile Ad Permit, all existing branded vehicle permits have been rendered obsolete.

The LASAA boss therefore called on clients, both prospective and existing, to commence immediate registration and permit renewal for the new year to avoid potential vehicle impoundment, with enforcement teams deployed across Lagos for comprehensive coverage.

He added that the agency has also, in tandem with the Mobile Advert Permit, introduced a technologically advanced website designed to elevate the user experience, streamline navigation, and simplify interface interaction.

Speaking on the refreshed logo, the Deputy General Manager, Corporate Communications and Strategy, Mr Temitope Akande, explained that the transition from the basic lettering to a circle in the logo design, which still maintains the royal blue colour and bold white lettering, depicts a strategic move to convey unity, modernization, inclusivity, and adaptability while preserving a sense of tradition and brand recognition by continuing with the same bold lettering and royal blue colour.

“The elements within the logo convey precision and forward-thinking, signalling LASAA’s adaptability to the evolving trends in advertising,” he stated.
