On Wednesday, the Federal Government disclosed plans to upgrade the state of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps nationwide.
The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, gave the assurance during an unscheduled visit to the NYSC orientation camp in Yikpata, Kwara State.
Olawande bemoaned the deplorable condition of some NYSC camps nationwide, pledging to engage with all relevant authorities to transform Kwara State orientation camps and others nationwide.
Mr Olawande apologised to corps members over the deplorable condition of their camps, describing it as an unacceptable situation that must be looked into by all relevant stakeholders
Meanwhile, the Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has advised the Corps to foster peaceful coexistence among one another.
He gave the advice in his address to the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream Two Corps Members during his visit to Abia State Orientation Camp in Umuna, Bende Local Government Area of the State.
Speaking further, the Director General warned the Corps Members against night travel and also travelling without obtaining permission from the Scheme. He warned that unauthorised travel attracts sanctions in line with NYSC bye-laws.
