As part of efforts to have hitch-free Hajj operations in 2024, the Kaduna State Government has inaugurated an eight-man committee that will ensure the provision of accommodation, feeding, transportation, Hadaya services, and tents for the benefit of Kaduna pilgrims.
Deputy Governor of the State, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, while inaugurating the committee at Government House Kaduna on Wednesday, said their selection was a testament to their expertise, dedication, and commitment to the progress of Kaduna State and the overall well-being of its people.
Dr Balarabe explained that the Kaduna State Government was aware of the challenges faced in previous Hajj exercises, which resulted in unnecessary hardships for its pilgrims.
According to her, it is their collective responsibility to rectify the gaps and create an improved arrangement that prioritises their welfare.
She stated that the terms of reference for the Committee outline crucial areas that require utmost attention and diligence, particularly in the provision of good accommodation, feeding, transportation, and tents.
The Deputy Governor said the committee is expected to ensure that only organisations capable of meeting Kaduna State government standards are engaged.
She maintained that members of the committee must ensure that the accommodation in Mecca meets the required bed capacity and proximity to the Kaaba, the quality of feeding is standard, there is proper implementation of hadaya services, and there is efficient transportation. She described these as essential components of a successful pilgrimage.
According to her government, they anticipate a comprehensive report detailing their findings, recommendations, and any operational challenges encountered when completing the assignment.
She said it will enable the state government to promptly address the identified issues and challenges with a view to making necessary improvements.
“I want to particularly thank Sheikh Salisu Abubakar for accepting to chair the 2024 pilgrimage operation. May Allah (SAW) reward your sacrifice and selfless service to our dear state.”
She pointed out that the state government, under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, understands the importance of providing a seamless and enriching pilgrimage experience for its people.
“I would like to express our confidence in your collective abilities to deliver on your terms of reference on behalf of the state government. Your dedication and meticulousness will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the well-being and satisfaction of our pilgrims.”
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Sheikh Salisu Abubakar, who commended Uba Sani for finding them worthy to chair the committee, pledged to work hard towards achieving the terms and references given to them.
Other members of the committee are Sheikh Salisu S. Abubakar, Chairman, Baba Ahmed Rufai, Secretary, Imam Buhari, Maimuna Waziri, and Aminu Kasimu: Professor Muhammadu Mustapha Gwadabe, AVM Muhammad Rabiu Dabo, and Ummakhukthum Jibril Maigwari.
