Oyo govt sets up new law enforcement authority

The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority has been established by the state government to ensure that citizens and residents comply with laws.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, in a release on Wednesday in Ibadan.

The authority, approved at the 8th Executive Council Meeting held last week, aims to apprehend and prosecute those who violate environmental and social laws promptly.

The state government will take a firm stance on offences such as indiscriminate dumping of refuse, obstruction of traffic flow, driving against traffic, disregard for traffic signs, occupation of public roads with trading activities, noise pollution, and other related offences as specified by the law.

In response to this initiative, the state governor, Engr. ‘Seyi Makinde has directed the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation to erect billboards across the state to forewarn citizens and residents about the government’s zero-tolerance stance on these offences.

The state government encourages the public to cooperate fully to achieve the objectives of the Rule of Law Enforcement Authority.
