No fewer than about 146 newly recruited officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have graduated at the State’s Command Headquarters in Minna, Niger State capital on Monday.
The passing out parade, held in a colourful ceremony at the Minna Old Secretariat complex premises was reviewed by the zonal coordinator in charge of Zone D, ACG Nongo Samuel Shima, who charged the newly recruited personnel to see their enlistment in the service as a call to duty to serve their fatherland with all sense of patriotism, discipline, determination, selflessness, and integrity.
The Zonal Coordinator urged them to consider themselves privileged to be among the recruited officers and advised them to be more proactive and committed in their duties, adding that the service will continue to pursue their welfare with deserved vigour.
He, however, appealed to members of the public to be wary of undue hospitality to strange visitors in their location, emphasising the need to subject such visitors to scrutiny and be satisfied that their staying within the location will not be a security threat to their community.
Highlights of the event included the presence of the Zonal Commander, Federal Fire Service, ACG Ahmed Karaye, Controller, Niger State Fire Service, State Coordinator, Federal Fire Service, Niger State Command, and the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, among others.
