The Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira has laid the foundation for a new ultramodern area office of the LCDA.
The ground-breaking event was held at the Baruwa area office located on Baruwa Street, Itire, Lagos.
Speaking at the ceremony, Apatira said the new structure was conceived to enhance productivity and create a conducive atmosphere for the workforce of the LCDA.
He added that the building will house the Elders’ Forum, legislative, and administrative arms of the LCDA.
He said, “This was previously the administrative headquarters of the LCDA. It was dilapidated to the point that it was becoming unsafe for the workers. Also, the office space of our legislative arm is not that spacious for legislative activities.
So the new building will have two wings accommodating the administrative staff, the legislative staff, and the Elders Forum.
The achievements of this administration have been remarkable, especially in the areas of staff welfare and infrastructure development. I want to use this opportunity to mention that this administration is concerned with the wellbeing of the people and staff of the district.”
The Head of Works and Infrastructure Department, Engr. Ganiu Badmus, who was represented by Engr. Oni Emmanuel, said the new building will be equipped with modern facilities.
He said, “The new building is a modern facility with overnight facilities. We are here to lay a solid foundation. It is not a project that will start and be abandoned. Everything that residents in this district need will be provided in this new area office. It will be of world-class quality with modern facilities.”
The secretary of the Itire-Ikate Elders’ Forum, Prince Francis Fadoju, described the ground-breaking event as the best thing that could happen to the council.
He said, “The purpose of government is to develop the people and the district. This is what we have experienced in Itire-Ikate LCDA with the Apatira-led administration.
We are happy that the local authority is investing hugely in infrastructural development and also the welfare of the people and workers of the council.”
