Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged graduates to recognize and embrace their potential, encouraging them to contribute to building a brighter future for Nigeria instead of seeking opportunities abroad.
He delivered this charge during a visit by the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and the graduating class of the second cohort of the Legislative Mentorship Initiative (LMI) to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Shettima, emphasizing the potential within the room, expressed his belief that future leaders, including Presidents, Vice Presidents, Senators, Members of the House of Representatives, governors, and captains of industry, were among the graduates.
He encouraged them to reject disillusionment and resist the temptation to seek opportunities outside Nigeria, asserting that they have the power to make positive changes within the country.
The Vice President challenged the graduates to redefine their perception of leadership, highlighting the importance of intellectual agility over physical strength.
He emphasised that true leadership involves providing robust solutions to the nation’s problems, and he expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to overcome challenges and bounce back in the coming months.
In response, Gbajabiamila, the founder of the LMI program, commended the graduating class, describing them as a generation like no other. The LMI initiative aims to mentor and empower young men and women, fostering their active participation in shaping Nigeria’s destiny.
