Yuletide: NSCDC assures residents on security in Abia

The Abia State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Paul Ozoemene Igwebuike, has assured Abia residents of hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The State Commandant gave the assurance after a crucial quarterly management meeting held at the Command Headquarters in Umuahia, stating that the meeting became necessary due largely to the security pressure usually associated with the Yuletide and the need to take proactive measures.

“We have analysed the available intelligence, which will guide our unreserved commitment to continue to provide a peaceful environment for the safety of lives and property of the general public.

“I have directed an immediate deployment of Personnel to strategic locations across the State with special considerations for Recreation/Event Centres, Motor Parks, Markets/Malls, and other flashpoints.

“Increased Motorised patrols across the State will complement the deployment already made,” he told newsmen.

According to him, Heads of different Departments/Units, Heads of Tactical Teams, and Commanders of Special Operations have been properly briefed on the Yuletide Operational Order, which he said must be carried out to the letter in line with the Corps’ Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) without compromising global best practices.

While thanking the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for prioritising Personnel welfare, regular promotion, training, and retraining, which according to him have been responsible for the consistently improved performance rating the Corps has maintained under his able leadership, he also thanked the general public for providing useful information to the Corps, which has contributed to the improved security situation in the State, and advised them to remain law-abiding as they celebrate and report suspicious movements to the nearest security formations for prompt action.
