Osun: Lafogido Foundation to showcase Yoruba cultural heritage with festival

One of the ruling houses in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Lafogido ruling house has disclosed its readiness to showcase the cultural heritage of Ile-Ife during the inaugural Lafogido Heritage Festival.

The ruling house also said it will officially launch the Lafogido heritage foundation which will focus on developing young minds and the community during this year’s festival.

Speaking with newsmen in Osogbo, the chairman festival planning committee, Prince Adeyemi Ademiluyi, said the occasion would he used to showcase the cultural heritage of the ruling House to the people in Nigeria and the diaspora.

Ademilyu noted that the festival is in commemoration of the 30th memorial of the grandson of the 48th Ooni Of Ife, Late Prince Ademakinwa Ademiluyi.

He added that the foundation had provided the schools in its vicinity with proper uniforms, adding that the foundation would renovate the school classrooms, provide computers, and build vocational schools to help the children become exceptional with Arts and crafts work.

He said, “We (LAFOGIDO HERITAGE FOUNDATION)now plan to showcase the Lafogido Family and the Ile-Ife Community to the world by holding the inaugural Lafogido Heritage Festival 2023, an Exhibition of Arts and Traditional Food, in Ile-Ife on Friday, 29th and Saturday, 30th December 2023.

“The exhibition will feature works of art, ranging from paintings to sculptures, depicting the cultural heritage of the Lafogido Ruling House. There would also be an arts competition among students in attendance.

“The festival would also serve as the platform to officially launch the Lafogido Heritage Foundation. Which focuses on developing young minds and the community.

“The foundation has already hit the ground running in terms of giving back to the community by re-constructing the Ita Otutu road with the assistance of the Osun State Government.

“We have also provided solar panel streetlights, refurbished the borehole for good water, provided the schools in the vicinity with proper uniforms with the intention to renovate the school classrooms, provide computers, and build vocational schools to help the children become exceptional with arts and crafts work, and playing traditional musical instruments.”
