It was prayers, pleasantries, songs of praise, and melodies of thanksgiving to the glory of God during the new year celebration by the sons and daughters of the Kutigi Church of Nigeria, Anglican Diocese, in Lavun local government areas of Niger State.
In his goodwill message to the people of the Diocese, the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Jeremiah Ndana Kolo reminded the people of the need to give thanks to God for allowing them to pass through numerous pains and challenges in the past year 2023 and still be among the living in 2024.
The prayer session was led by the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Jeremiah Ndana Kolo, while Mama Bishop anchored the songs of praise by the Mothers Union, who testified to the significance and manifestations of God in the lives of the people in the Kutigi Anglican Diocese within the state and Nigeria at large.
In the call for worship, which was held at the main auditorium of the Cathedral Church of St.John’s, Anglican Diocese of Kutigi, Bishop Jeremiah Ndana Kolo prayed for the divine intervention of God to continue to show favour and mercies to the Nigerian nation and guide leaders to implement people-oriented policies for the well-being of Nigerians.
The cleric urged the congregation to embrace the teachings of Psalm 121, emphasising reliance on the Creator of heaven and earth. Quoting the psalm, which expresses dependence on the Lord for assistance, “I look up to the hills, but where will my help come from? My help will come from the Lord,” the cleric highlighted the significance of turning to God in all circumstances as the ultimate source of deliverance.
“It is time we renew our ways with God. We have no option but to praise God for all He has been doing in our lives. Despite our disobedience and our attitudes towards one another, worshipping God in our lives in truth is the only way to get to the Kingdom of God,” Bishop Ndana declared.
Following the New Year celebrations, Mr Peter Abu and Mr Modacai Ladan, elders of the Diocese, including Mr Ladan, who serves as the Majinko Nupe, expressed gratitude for being granted the opportunity to witness the arrival of 2024 in good health. They extended prayers for divine peace to prevail throughout the country.
