Ahead of this year’s gubernatorial election in Edo State, the Concerned Edo Progressive has called on stakeholders in the state to support Barr Kasimu Otono, who is running under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
The group, in a communiqué signed by its spokesperson, Mr Hassan Abiri, said it is time the Edo people put forward a capable, young, and vibrant Edo son who has proven to show excellence in his chosen career and without unquestionable character to fill the governorship seat.
The communiqué further stated that it’s time for young progressives to take over the mantle of the number one seat of the state for the restoration of all that Edo State has lost.
The communiqué said, “Although there is a golden rule that has been adopted by all relevant stakeholders to foster peace, unity, and fairness amongst all Edo sons and daughters, it urges that the party APC should look beyond sentiment but more competence and capacity to deliver the renewed hope mantra of Mr President to the great people of Edo State, which should be the more reason they should look inward to the unquestionable person of Barr. Kasimu Otono and, as such, throw weight behind his candidature and appeal to all aspirants from all three senatorial districts to close rank and support a breath of freshness.”
Furthermore, the group reiterated Barrister Otono’s commitment and antecedent as a loyal party man who has never decamped to any other party.
“While Barr. Otono served as Director, Youth Mobilisation, Edo North Presidential/Senatorial Campaign Council in the last general elections, where he performed exceptionally well and earned the APC the overwhelming victory they deserved, Edo North youths and beyond were all in a cheerful mood upon the announcement of his appointment.
“Accordingly, he assured all Edo citizens, irrespective of party affiliations or tribes, that he doesn’t need to know you before he helps you.
He is a good product to sell without any baggage or blemish. This is why his political party, the APC, will not make any mistake by endorsing him as their flag bearer because members of other political parties and other electorates will accept and vote for him unconditionally at the general elections.
“Irrespective of our affiliation to different political parties, we believe Barr. Kasimu Otono of the APC will put the interests of Edolites first in delivering the dividends of democracy and bringing succour to the common man,” the communiqué stated.
