Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has assured his administration’s readiness to support the Nigerian legion in order to succeed and improve their welfare.
Gov. Sule gave the assurance while speaking with newsmen during the ceremony of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration on Monday.
The event is titled ” We Remember Our Fallen Heroes.”.
The governor said that his administration would continue to support Nigeria’s legion to succeed.
“Today is a historic day; this is a day we remember our fallen heroes who fought very hard for our freedom and our independence and continue to fight in other countries in order to defend humanity.
“You have seen a lot that has been going on here in the state; the legion has continued to receive our support,” he said
Sule said that he has provided the legion with vehicles and more resources in order to operate efficiently.
“From what you have seen this year, we have already provided them with vehicles, and we have provided them with more resources in order to have the legion operate more efficiently,” he said.
It would be reported that the event featured special prayers for the fallen heroes who fought for the peace, unity, and integration of the country.
The event also featured prayers for the soldiers on the battlefield as well as three-gun salutes for the fallen heroes.
Dignitaries observed a minute of silence in honour of fallen heroes.
It also featured a reveille by the Nigerian Army as its last sign of respect for the fallen heroes.
The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the State Chief Judge, Justice Aisha Bashir, and the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad (Rtd), as well as the State Deputy Governor, among other dignitaries, attended the event.
In another development, Gov. Abdullahi Sule has today inaugurated the Governing Council of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, with former INEC Chairman Prof. Atahiru Jegga as the Chairman.
The event, which took place in Government House Lafia, had in attendance Dr Emmanuel Akabe, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Justice Aisha Bashir Aliyu, the Chief Judge of the State, SSG, and the Account General of the State, Ahmed Musa Mohammed, among others.
