The Lagos Police Command Public Relations Officer, Ben Hundenyin has expressed shock at a bizarre request, by a man seeking asylum abroad, to be declared wanted.
The details of the conversation where the person expressed his request was made public by Ben Hundenyin via his official X account, on saturday, 20th January, 2023.
According to Hundenyin, the man, whose name is undisclosed, desires to be declared wanted because he had claimed in his application for asylum at an embassy that he was being persecuted by law enforcement agency.
Hence, he needed to present authentic evidence that the law enforcement was indeed after him.

However, mixed reactions ranging from utter disbelief, shock and rebuke has trailed the revelation of the extent to which some individuals can go to ‘japa’ out of Nigeria.
The person knows that he could get what he wanted by dropping “something” for the right person, afterall it’s a useless country where anything goes. Sad but true. And the police? Laughable. The dude knows it’s doable which is why he had the guts to make such horrendous request.…

Years ago, a dude wanted me to do a story about him being wanted in a village he served because he was caught with a boy. He wanted a narrative that he was beaten up but escaped.
The story is that he wanted proof that he was gay and being persecuted in Nigeria.
