Ganduje urges Kano Gov Yusuf to defect to APC

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has called on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Kano state governor, to defect to the APC so as to make the state a one-party state.

Making this known on Thursday after a stakeholders meeting of APC members held at the party secretariat on Club Road, Ganduje noted that they accepted the verdict of the Supreme Court, which confirmed the incumbent governor, Alhaji Yusuf, as the winner of the election.

According to him, the party believed that the verdict pronounced by the Apex Court was a divine judgement that must be accepted by a good Democrat.

He noted that though the APC won at the tribunal and Appeal Court, they lost at the Supreme Court, adding that all are part of politics.

Ganduje, however, hinted that now that the party has formed the central government, there is a need to invite other political parties, especially the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the ruling governor, Alhaji Yusuf, to pitch tents with the APC.

“Our doors are widely open; we would soon go for a membership drive; therefore, there is ample opportunity for members of all political parties to register as members of the party.”

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for all the laudable projects he has embarked upon.

“President Tinubu has been fair to the APC in Kano, and members of the party have called on him to increase the tempo.”

Also speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Senate Senator, Senator Barau Jibril, said that the party has never had a close chance for any opposition parties to join the APC, hence the need for any members from any party to freely pitch tent with the APC.

“APC is the largest party in Africa, and we are not afraid of new members wishing to join the APC.”

Also speaking in the same vein,  Honourable Ado Alhassan Doguwa stated that the APC is a party to beat in terms of politics; therefore, our doors for registering new members are widely open.
