Tragedy struck in the Idi Orogbo area of Araromi in Sango Ota,Ogun State on Tuesday as a businessman ,simply identified as D1 ended his own life .
Sources close to the deceased man told the Nigerian Tribune that the decision by D1 to end his life might not be unconnected with a debt he incurred .
It was further gathered that the deceased man was about losing his house as a result of the debt when he decided to cut his life shot .
A resident, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune said ” D1 was discovered hanging to the ceiling by his wife ,who came to check on him .”
The resident said ” For some time now ,he has been having serious financial challenges . He has two shops ,where he was selling video cds .
” The first one is a shop , while the second one was a room in Idi Orogbo, which was converted to a shop by him and where he has been sleeping for some time now .”
Another resident, Akeem told the Nigerian Tribune that ” Nobody knew that he had killed himself . It was his wife ,who had been trying to call him and could not get him to come to check on him . ”
” He used his bedsheet to hang himself to to one of the planks that were used in the roofing of the house . He broke the ceiling to hang himself .”
The resident also told the Nigerian Tribune that the matter had been reported at Sango Ota divisional police station .
Meanwhile ,the image maker in charge of the state police command , Omolola Odutola a Superintendent of Police( SP) said that she was yet to be briefed on the incident .
Recall that in April 20, 2023, a middle-aged man, identified as Mr Ogheneovo, has killed himself because his wife and children had deserted him.
The deceased reportedly injected a killer insecticide at his residence along Gesimisi Street, Okumagba Layout in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
He was said to have left no suicide note before he took his own life.
