Over 431 retired civil servants receive gratuity in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Committee chairman for verification and payment of gratuities to retired state government civil servants, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, has disclosed that so far, over 431 beneficiaries have received their entitlement in about two weeks in the state.

The committee chairman, who is also the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, further disclosed his committee’s readiness to pay all the backlog of pension gratuities owed to over 4,000 state government workers who have retired from 2015 to date.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen in his office on Tuesday evening, he said the committee is making headway towards ensuring the payment of gratuities as approved and directed by Governor Dauda Lawal in the state.

“The verification and payment committee has already paid a total of 413 beneficiaries, which amounts to over N631 million in the first phase of the exercise.”.

He further disclosed that the committee has also submitted another verified list of beneficiaries from 2015 to 2017 and 2018 to 2020 and is now waiting for the governor’s approval before embarking on payments for the next batch in the state.

” The verification exercise would also authenticate state government workers who retired in 2021, 2022, and 2023,” he added.
