Geometric power plant commissioning, in line with Otti’s vision — Aide

As the Geometric Power Plant, Aba is set to be commissioned next week, the Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Alex Otti on due Process, Dr Oluebube Chukwu says, the project is in line with Governor Alex Otti’s vision for a New Abia.

This, he said, shows that Governor Otti is being strategic and determined to ensure that the economy of the state is placed on a global path.

Chukwu, who was talking on the effect of power supply in the industrial growth and development of the state, said the importance of electricity supply in the development of any society cannot be over-emphasized, stating that for Abia State governor and his team to have worked assiduously behind the scenes to ensure its speedy commissioning shows that the governor is intentional and futuristic, as well as committed to the business growth and development in the state.

“Lack of electricity hampers economic growth and development, hence, it makes small and medium scale businesses to struggle to operate efficiently and industrial activities are constrained, thereby limiting job opportunities and internally generated revenue of the state.

“Electricity problem cripples businesses and this has been a major reason many investors are skeptical about investing in such an environment.

“Poor power generation and distribution represents a major drawback for individual growth and development, leading to the closure of industries, as well as a rapid decline in the availability of social amenities,” he said.

According to him, the generation of electricity from the Geometric power plant will be a game changer in the socio-economic development of Aba while the commissioning will bring about a dramatic improvement in power supply, adding that with constant quality and affordable electricity supply, the cost of doing business in the state will be reduced significantly.

While applauding Geometrics and Gov. Otti over the project, Chukwu urged the Aba businessmen and women to embrace the enabling environment to boost their businesses and investments in Aba.
