The Enterprise, Growth and Opportunities (EGO) Foundation, a development organization committed to the alleviation of poverty and reduction of unemployment in African communities, carried out the seventh phase of its SheEnabled project in Orile Iganmu, Lagos State.
This project is reflective of EGO Foundation’s unwavering commitment to fostering economic empowerment and creating shared prosperity in communities around the world through enterprise development, technology education, skill enhancement, and strategic collaborations, with a primary emphasis on empowering women and youths.
Through the SheEnabled project, EGO Foundation is empowering women through comprehensive financial inclusion and literacy initiatives. The transformative project was executed in collaboration with Access Bank and Worden HCD, addressing the interwoven challenges of poverty and gender inequality through robust training on financial inclusion and digital literacy.
The 7-day event featured artisan cluster engagements, access to funding engagement by LSETF, and a one day in-house training session on bookkeeping, financial inclusion, digital literacy, savings for investment and a lot more which featured esteemed speakers from Access Bank and the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF). Ifeoluwa Oyeyipo, representing Access Bank, shared insights into financial empowerment and the role of women in economic growth. Olaoluwa Odugbesan, representing LSETF, provided valuable information on available opportunities for women in entrepreneurship and skill development.
Ifeoluwa Oyeyipo, Access Bank representative announced that “Access Bank is proud to be part of initiatives that uplift women. Financial empowerment is a key catalyst for societal progress, and events like the SheEnabled project play a crucial role.”
Olaoluwa Odugbesan, the ME Officer at LSETF said that “LSETF is dedicated to providing opportunities for women to thrive in their chosen fields. SheEnabled aligns with our commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and skill development among women.”
Ghazali Abdulmuizz, the Programs Associate at EGO foundation expressed gratitude to all collaborators on the project and on behalf of the founder, Toluwase Olaniyan expressed that, “we are thrilled by the overwhelming response and engagement from the community. SheEnabled is not just an event; it’s a movement empowering women to thrive in various aspects of their lives.”
The project also made a significant impact in the lives of the women through the distribution of palliatives to more than 500 women, addressing immediate needs in the community in the face of the current economic hardship facing the country. Additionally, a crucial health aspect was addressed, as medical eye tests were conducted for another 500 women. The initiative recognizes the importance of holistic well-being and sought to address both immediate and long-term health concerns.
