The Police Constabularies in Oyo State have issued an appeal to Governor Seyi Makinde to consider them for recruitment into the state police force.
These constabulary officers were initially employed by the federal government in 2020 but have not received their salaries up to the present time.
In light of recent discussions regarding the establishment of state police, particularly after an emergency meeting between President Bola Tinubu and state governors at the Aso Rock Villa, the constabularies in Oyo State are urging Governor Makinde to include them in the recruitment process.
Emphasising their commitment to combating crime in the state, the constabularies have pledged to provide additional support to the Oyo State government if they are officially recruited into the state police force.
They believe that their inclusion in the recruitment process would significantly contribute to the efforts to maintain law and order in Oyo State.
The constabularies stated that in its commitment to put an end to crime in the state, the special constabularies are ready to give more support to the Oyo State government in fighting crime in the state if recruited.
This was revealed in a statement jointly signed by the Oyo state general number 1 Batch B Taofeek Akinpelu and Batch A, Adewale Adegoke of the Constabularies on Wednesday.

The Constabularies in the statement noted that the employment of its officers into the state police will serve as compensation for the hardship faced by its members in the last 3 and half years of its recruitment without payment of stipends or allowances.
The duo stated that the training received during its training days in 2020 would be a wasted effort if not recruited as a conventional state police officer.
It was also emphasised that the constabulary officers had exercised patience and endured the pain of working without being paid over the years and should therefore be compensated with the recruitment into the state police.
The group also in the statement appealed to the federal government to help look into the unpaid stipends of its members.
“We appreciate the Oyo State Federal representatives, Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde and Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat for their support to our members
“We specifically appreciate the Oyo State commissioner of police for the equal treatment given to the constabulary police officers in the state
“We use this opportunity to once again appeal to the Federal government to help look into the unpaid stipends of the special police constabularies, we have worked hard with the conventional police in the state in a bid to fight against crime,” the statement reads.
