Ondo 2024: I’m a unifying candidate — APC aspirant, Akinfolarin

A former member of the House of Representatives and an aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state, Mayowa Akinfolarin, stated on Wednesday that his candidacy would unify and stabilize the state if elected as governor.

Akinfolarin made these remarks during his consultation tour of the state’s 18 local governments ahead of the primary election of the APC. He asserted that he remains the best candidate to reverse the trend of poverty and underdevelopment that has pervaded the state over time.

He emphasized his position as the only unifying candidate and stressed the need for a paradigm shift to develop the state, particularly in the areas of the economy and agriculture.

Akinfolarin, a former deputy speaker of the State Assembly, promised to restore the lost glory of the state by reviving all moribund industries. He stated that the local government consultation tours were imperative to unveil his plans for quality and purposeful leadership, focusing on economic empowerment, poverty alleviation, and women and youth development.

He assured that his administration would prioritize the development of agriculture, education, health, job creation, and infrastructure at the grassroots level. He also pledged to prioritize training and retraining of workers, prompt payment of salaries and allowances, and improvement in the working and living conditions of the workers.

Regarding infrastructure, Akinfolarin emphasized the importance of road construction and development, stating that “a network of roads is a catalyst for rapid socio-economic development of rural communities.”

He explained that the visit to the local government was necessary to establish better rapport with the people, stating, “When you want to interact with your people, it is imperative to have one-on-one contact with them.”

Akinfolarin described himself as the most qualified candidate for the election and assured the people that Ondo State would be safe in his hands if elected as governor. He highlighted his extensive experience in various positions, including Chairman of the Committee on Road Safety in the House of Representatives, Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly, and Director roles in governmental bodies. He emphasized that his credentials make him the most suitable candidate for the job.
