9 things you should know about Late Olubadan, Lekan Balogun

Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II was born October 18, 1942, in the Ali-Iwo compound, present-day Ibadan North East Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun had his higher education in the United Kingdom. 

Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun worked as a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State. 

The late Olubadan was once a presidential aspirant representing the Social Democratic Party and also a gubernatorial candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State. 

Late Oba Lekan Balogun was a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Oyo Central senatorial district between 1999 and 2003. 

He also worked with Shell British Petroleum Company where he rose to the position of Administrator/Head, Industrial Relations, Recruitment and Scholarships, Planning and Development units respectively.

He was crowned the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on March 11, 2022.

Lekan Balogun was a Muslim and was married to two wives with children. 

He died at the age of 81
