The Rivers State Government, through its Signage and Advertising Agency, RISSAA, has announced the dissolution of all task forces, revenue collection agencies, and others doing business on behalf of the state.
The dissolution was conveyed via a statement on Friday signed by RISAA Managing Director, Aye Pepple, indicating that the action was with immediate effect and adding that a revalidation exercise would be conducted at a later date.
Recall that the State House of Assembly, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule recently repealed the law establishing the agency following the political crisis that rocked the state.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara had recently appointed a managing director for the agency, a move that was opposed by the 27 lawmakers said to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom WIke, as they insisted that the governor acted outside the law for making such an appointment without the approval of the Assembly.
However, in a new twist, the agency, in a statement signed by the RISAA Managing Director, Aye Pepple, announced the dissolution of the taskforce, revenue agents, consultants, and others doing business on behalf of the agency.
The statement reads, “The Rivers State Signage and Advertising Agency hereby announces the dissolution of all task forces, revenue agents, consultants, contractors, and representatives doing business on behalf of the agency with immediate effect.
“Furthermore, there will be a revalidation exercise, whose commencement date will be communicated to all affected parties, and until this exercise is concluded, the public is advised not to engage in any dealings with anyone on behalf of the agency.
“RISAA reassures all stakeholders of efficient and quality service delivery.”
