CDS, Gen Musa reiterates Armed Force commitment to secure Nigeria

The Chief of Defence Staff ( CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, reiterated on Thursday the total commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to secure the nation against insurgency, saying that there was no reason for concern

General Musa gave the assurance when he paid a working visit to the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in Abuja.

According to a statement made available to defence correspondents by Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the CDS suggested that the National Population Commission should work together with the Ministry of Interior to ascertain the true numbers of Nigerians for close monitoring.

He said that the CDS commended the Minister for introducing an enhanced change to the process of acquiring passports in Nigeria, describing it as a great achievement.

According to the CDS, ” the changes are visible for people to see; the Minister is a true Nigerian who means well for the Country. ”

In his response, the Minister, Dr. Tunji-Ojo, disclosed that about seventy per cent of bomb-making materials were being brought to the country under the disguise of fire service equipment and urged that the Border Community Development Agency should collaborate with the AFN and the Ministry of Interior with the support of the locals to secure the nation.

The Minister who called for lasting solutions to the nation’s porous borders, stressed the need for collaboration between the Nigeria Immigration Services and the Armed Forces of Nigeria towards securing the nation from all forms of insecurity

While stating that the nation was lucky to have the most dedicated armed forces in the world. The minister sought collaboration in terms of training its special forces, stressing that the AFN was already fully stretched.

He described the CDS as ” a round peck in a round  adding that General Musa’s leadership style was the reason the “military is winning the war against insurgency activities in all directions.
