Alleged mismanagement: Kano govt inaugurates committee to probe Kano Capital School

Kano State Government has inaugurated 11-member Committee to investigate long-existing problems associated with financial Mismanagement and other staff claims at Kano Capital School.

While inaugurating the committee in his office, the State Commissioner of Education Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa disclosed that the move was part of the present administration’s commitment to overcome the long-existing problems that have affected smooth operation of the school for over two years.

This was contained in a statement issued to the pressmen by the Director of Public Enlightenment of the Ministry Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, a copy made available to the press on Thursday in Kano

However, he quoted the Commissioner as revealing that the committee is mandated to among others, review the financial records, budgets, and expenditures of the school for the past two years, to analyze teacher recruitment and salary payment procedures to identify inefficiency and conduct a thorough audit of the school’s financial records.

He said the committee would maintain open communication with relevant stakeholders and submit a comprehensive report with actionable recommendations at the end of the assigned timeline.

Members of the committee include the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Hajiya Kubra Imam as Chairperson, Direçtor Monitoring and Evaluation Yusha’u Hamza Kafinciri, Director Educational Support Services Malam Hashim M. Tuku, Deputy Director Budget Malam Bashir and Former Executive Secretary Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board Malam Muhd Idris.

Other Members include Deputy Resident Auditor Halima Tukur, State Chairman School Basic Management Committee (SBMC) Malam Tijjani Haladu Baraya, Hajiya Ladidi Flagge (Retired Director of Schools), Malam Rabi’u Mijinyawa (Retired Director KSSSMB), Aishatu Yola from Servicom and Director Administration and General Services Ministry of Education to serve as Secretary.

Alhaji Umar Doguwa therefore urged the committee members to work diligently to achieve the desired results.

Responding, the Chairperson of the committee Hajiya Kubra Imam assured the Commissioner of their commitment to work as a team to justify the confidence reposed in them.
