A member of Standard Bank Group, Stanbic IBTC Holdings, has adopted an additional four public schools spread across Ekiti, Akwa Ibom, Sokoto, and Borno States.
The company, a leading financial service provider in Nigeria, sometime last year under its Adopt-a School Programme, also adopted Kurba Community Primary School in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State.
The newly adopted schools are Aramoko District School, Aramoko, Ekiti State; Magin Rafi Model Primary School, Tudun Wada, Sokoto State; Mala Kachallah Model School, Maiduguri in Borno State and Methodist School, Mbiafun Nkwono Ikono, Akwa Ibom State.

The Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC, Dr Demola Sogunle, who made the disclosure in a statement in Lagos, said the gesture is aimed at improving the quality of education in public schools in the country.
He said the belief of the organisation is that the ‘Adopt-A-School’ programme would certainly go a long way in Nigeria to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal(SDG) 4, which focuses on free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education for all children by 2030.
According to him, Stanbic IBTC believes that every child in Nigeria should get educated in an environment conducive to learning, hence its ‘Adopt-a-School’ policy is a way of contributing to the development of individuals and institutions in the communities it is operating.
He explained that by the adoption, the company had given a new look that truly reflects 21st-century educational institutions for all the adopted schools.
He explained that meant the company had rebuilt those schools’ classroom blocks, renovated their toilets equipped their classrooms and teachers’ offices with furniture and also established computer laboratories, and provided necessary digital resources to empower students.
He added that the company had equally adopted schools, contributing to the achievement of net zero emissions by 2050 in the country.
He emphasised that the overall goal of Stanbic IBTC is to make a lasting positive impact through its various social intervention efforts on people and communities where its operates.
He promised that the group would not relent in doing so for the sake of this and the future generations.
